Rendezvous with Rama · Arthur C. Clarke, 1973
How high is the southern cliff in Rendezvous with Rama?
~500m
Almost half a kilometre of sheer wall, ten times the cliff on the north shore.
From the bookReal world
Why the south side of the sea is so much higher than the north is never explained. There is no visible way up.
Jimmy Pak ends up on top of it after his sky-bike crashes on the Southern Continent. Resolution comes to the foot of the cliff, and he jumps, using his shirt as a parachute. They pull him out of the water.
The book gives the cliff as nearly half a kilometre, so the map uses about 500 m.
